Suvendu Adhikari Calls PA's Killing Pre-Planned Murder

In a shocking incident late at night, the personal assistant of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was shot dead in the Madhyamgram area of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. The deceased, identified as Chandra, was killed in what eyewitnesses describe as a targeted attack.

According to witnesses, a bike-borne assailant intercepted the vehicle carrying Chandra and opened fire at point-blank range before fleeing the scene. The attack occurred between 10:30 PM and 11 PM, just a few hundred metres away from a hospital. The driver of the car was also injured in the firing and is receiving medical treatment.

Reacting to the incident, Suvendu Adhikari termed the killing a “pre-planned murder” and alleged that a recce of the area had been conducted for days prior to the attack. He blamed the deteriorating law and order situation in West Bengal, calling it the result of “15 years of Maha-Jungle Raj.”

The opposition leader’s remarks have sparked a political row, with the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) dismissing the allegations. The BJP has demanded a thorough investigation and stricter security measures for its leaders and workers in the state.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining forensic evidence, including shell casings and CCTV footage from the vicinity. Officials have not yet made any arrests but have formed multiple teams to track down the assailants.

This incident adds to the growing tension in West Bengal, where political violence has been a recurring issue. The state has witnessed several clashes between rival party workers in recent years, with both the BJP and TMC accusing each other of instigating violence.

Adhikari’s statement reflects the deep political divide in the state, as he holds the Mamata Banerjee-led government responsible for the deteriorating law and order. The TMC, however, has countered these claims, stating that the BJP is trying to create a narrative to destabilize the state.

The killing of Chandra has sent shockwaves through the political circles, and leaders from various parties have condemned the attack. The BJP has announced that it will observe a day of mourning and has demanded a high-level probe into the murder.
