Tarn Taran Woman Dies by Suicide After Alleged 14-Year Abuse; Husband Booked

A tragic incident unfolded in Tarn Taran on Thursday. A 34-year-old mother of two, Kulbir Kaur, allegedly died by suicide. Reports indicate she consumed a poisonous substance. Her family members claim she suffered years of physical abuse at the hands of her husband, Mantaj Singh.

Family Alleges Persistent Abuse Over 14 Years

Nirmal Singh, the father of Kulbir Kaur, spoke to the media about the distressing situation. He stated the abuse started soon after his daughter's marriage fourteen years ago. The couple had two daughters together. Conflicts reportedly intensified over time, placing Kulbir Kaur under constant stress.

"I married off my daughter with the hope of a good life for her," Nirmal Singh said. "But her husband began physically abusing her. Even after having children, the situation only worsened."

He further alleged that Kulbir Kaur made a final phone call to her sister-in-law before taking her life. In that call, she expressed she could no longer bear the ongoing abuse.

Family Support and Police Action

Nirmal Singh added that both he and his wife, who are unwell, provided significant dowry and support to the in-laws. He claimed Mantaj Singh failed to reciprocate this support.
