Teen Girl Abducted and Raped in Bharuch in Apparent Revenge Attack
A shocking case of abduction and sexual assault has emerged from Bharuch district in Gujarat. Police report that a 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped within the jurisdiction of the Nabipur police station.
Revenge Motive Behind the Heinous Crime
Investigating officers state the crime appears to be an act of revenge. The victim's brother had eloped with the sister of the primary accused approximately three months ago. When the couple did not return, the accused allegedly planned retaliation.
The accused, along with four other individuals, arrived at the victim's residence three days ago. They targeted the household when the men were not present. The group then abducted four women from the home, including the minor who was later raped.
Details of the Abduction and Assault
The assailants used a car for the abduction. After taking the four women, they assaulted them. The perpetrators subsequently dropped off three of the women. However, they kept the 17-year-old girl with them.
"One of the accused then raped the minor in the moving car," a police officer involved in the case explained. The officer confirmed that the incident stemmed directly from the prior elopement.
Familial Background and Police Action
Both the victim's family and the accused's family originally hail from the same village in Madhya Pradesh. They were residing in temporary huts near a railway track in Haldar village, Bharuch. The families worked for a contractor involved in laying railway tracks.
Police have registered a case against five persons. This includes the individual accused of committing the rape. Authorities have invoked the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in this case, given the victim is a minor.
"We have booked five persons, including the person accused of rape," the police officer stated, confirming the legal steps taken.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to apprehend all the accused and gather further evidence in this distressing revenge crime.
