Chennai: A 16-year-old girl was killed after a container lorry struck the motorcycle she was riding pillion on near Tiruvottiyur on Wednesday night. The victim, Taslin Begam, a resident of Thangal in Tiruvottiyur, was a Class XII student at a private school.

Accident Details

According to police, Taslin Begam was riding pillion on a motorcycle with a friend, traveling from Kaladipet towards the Ennore Expressway. Near the Pattinathar Temple junction in Tiruvottiyur, a container lorry crashed into a barricade placed for underground drainage work and then hit the motorcycle.

Taslin Begam fell onto the road and was run over by the lorry. The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. Her friend sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police Investigation

The Washermenpet traffic investigation police have registered a case and launched a search for the container lorry driver. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and its driver.
