Crime Branch Shoots Two Juveniles in Delhi Gang Rivalry Case

New Delhi: The crime branch on Thursday shot two juveniles, allegedly shooters of the Anwar Thakur-Harun gang, involved in the killing of a drinking water supplier in northeast Delhi’s Dayalpur. Rashid was shot dead on Monday inside his shop by three men.

Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) HGS Dhaliwal said Rashid was allegedly associated with gangster Naseem Durrani and his crime network. Preliminary investigation and local intelligence inputs revealed a long-standing rivalry between the Durrani and Harun gangs.

Following the murder, DCP (Crime) Sanjeev Yadav constituted a special team under inspectors Man Singh and Sunder Gautam to track down the shooters. After tipoffs that two suspects would travel from Usmanpur to Wazirabad, a trap was laid and the two juveniles were intercepted.

Sources said that when the duo found themselves surrounded, they allegedly pulled out pistols and opened fire at the police team, prompting head constables Manoj and Mukesh to open fire and hit both juveniles in the legs.

Police have found that Raja Mewati, a close associate of Harun, was recently murdered by unidentified assailants. The Harun gang suspected Rashid of conspiring with the Durrani gang, which escalated tensions between the rival groups, said police. This allegedly prompted the Harun gang to plan Rashid’s murder.

Police seized two .32 bore pistols, five live cartridges, three empty cartridges and a scooter from the juveniles.
