In a joint operation by Jaipur South police and the Food and Civil Supplies Department on Tuesday, three men, including a gas agency operator, were arrested for allegedly black-marketing domestic LPG cylinders in the Sodala area. The accused were identified as Kuldeep Yogi (24) of Tonk, Suresh Yogi (36) of Mozmabad in Jaipur, and Veni Gopal (60) of Arai in Ajmer, who operates a gas agency.
Action Based on Complaints
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur South) Rajrishi Raj Varma stated that the action followed complaints of illegal refilling and sale of domestic cylinders in residential localities. Acting on a tip-off, enforcement officer Kavita Sharma and a police team led by Sub-Inspector Jaikumar raided a vacant plot in Jamna Nagar Extension, Sushilpura.
Seizure of Cylinders and Vehicles
A Bolero pickup bearing HP Gas markings was found carrying 48 sealed domestic cylinders. Additionally, 49 more domestic cylinders and two commercial cylinders were recovered from the site. Two motorcycles used for distribution were also seized.
Confession and Investigation
During questioning, Kuldeep Yogi allegedly admitted to running the operation with his brother-in-law Suresh Yogi, supplying cylinders across Jaipur. Police said initial claims about sourcing cylinders from Manoharpur HP Gas Service were false, with technical and financial evidence linking supplies to Shree Krishna HP Gas Service in Arai. Veni Gopal was arrested for allegedly supplying cylinders without proper booking for the past two to three months.
Modus Operandi
Officials said the accused procured cylinders at slightly above the standard rate and sold them at inflated prices. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. In total, 99 cylinders were seized in the city.
