Coimbatore: Trio Arrested for Stealing Phones from Madukkarai Court Storeroom
Three Arrested for Coimbatore Court Mobile Phone Theft

Police in Coimbatore have successfully cracked a case of theft from a court's premises, leading to the arrest of three young men. The accused allegedly broke into the Madukkarai court storeroom last year to retrieve confiscated narcotics and ended up stealing mobile phones.

The August Break-In and Theft

According to officials, the incident occurred in August of last year. The trio managed to gain unauthorized entry into the court premises located in Madukkarai. Their primary motive, as revealed during the investigation, was to search for ganja (marijuana) that had been seized from them in earlier proceedings.

While rummaging through the storeroom in their quest for the drugs, the youths stumbled upon and stole two mobile phones. The theft was later discovered by the court staff, who promptly filed a formal complaint with the Madukkarai police.

Investigation Leads to Arrests

Acting on the complaint, the Madukkarai police registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation. Their probe led them to the three suspects, who were identified and subsequently arrested on Thursday.

The arrested individuals have been named as M Abishek (20), M Solomon Akash (29), and K Kishore (18). All three hail from the Vellalore Housing Unit in Podanur, Coimbatore.

A History of Criminal Cases

Police records indicate that this is not the first brush with the law for the accused. Investigations revealed that the trio already have multiple cases registered against them at the Podanur and Chettipalayam police stations. Their criminal history added crucial leads for the investigating team.

Following their arrest, the three accused were produced before a judicial magistrate. The court has ordered them to be remanded in judicial custody as the legal process moves forward. The case highlights ongoing concerns about security within court complexes and the repeat offenses by known individuals.
