Three Men Arrested After Gunfight in Ghaziabad's Tronica City
Ghaziabad police arrested three men following a dramatic gunfight in the Tronica City area on Tuesday. The suspects were wanted in connection with the murder of their friend, 25-year-old Sufiyan, a resident of Delhi.
Body Found in Empty Plot
Police discovered Sufiyan's body on January 6 in an empty plot located in Ilaichipur Jain colony. He had been shot twice in the chest. Sufiyan's elder brother, Faizan, filed a First Information Report for murder against unknown persons at the Tronica City police station.
Suspects Identified Through Investigation
Authorities identified the accused as Sandeep Basoiya (32), Divyanshu Kumar (20), also known as Rocky, and Sahil, alias Ballu (23). According to police statements, all three men belonged to the same robbery gang as the deceased. They regularly snatched valuables from people on the road and often met at the accused's house.
When Sufiyan failed to return home after several days, his brother Faizan alerted the police. He later learned about the discovery of his brother's body in Tronica City. Faizan formally filed the murder report on January 10.
CCTV and Surveillance Lead to Breakthrough
Siddharth Gautam, Assistant Commissioner of Police for Loni, explained that police used CCTV camera footage, call detail records, and surveillance to identify the suspects. Late on Monday night, officers received specific information indicating the suspects in the Sufiyan murder case were traveling from Sonia Vihar to Tronica City.
Police immediately set up barricades and began checking vehicles. They spotted three individuals approaching on a motorcycle. Officers surrounded them and apprehended them on the spot.
Interrogation Reveals Motive and Details
During questioning about the murder and the recovery of the murder weapon, Sandeep Baisoya and Divyanshu confessed to killing Sufiyan on the evening of January 6. They admitted to hiding the pistol in the bushes of the Jain Colony Harrampur forest area.
The accused told police that Baisoya and Divyanshu fired at officers using the hidden pistol. In the retaliatory action by the police team, the accused sustained bullet injuries to their legs. Authorities transported them to a hospital for treatment.
Further interrogation revealed a long-standing dispute over one lakh rupees. Whenever the accused demanded their money, Sufiyan allegedly abused them and threatened their lives. On January 6 evening, all three accused took Sufiyan with them on a motorcycle to Jain Colony near Harrampur under the pretext of committing a robbery. They found an opportunity and shot him.
Recovery of Evidence
Police recovered two illegal pistols, one live cartridge, and a motorcycle from the possession of the accused. They registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
