Dumka: Three men were arrested by a special team of Jamtara district police for their alleged involvement in organized cybercrime operations, police said on Friday. Nine mobile phones and 22 SIM cards, which were used to carry out the crimes, were seized from them.
Led by Deputy SP Cyber Crime Amit Kumar, raids were conducted on Thursday in forest areas between Supaidih and Sheikhpura under Jamtara Town police station limits, and at Pipradih ground under Karmatanr police station. Those arrested were identified as Sanatan Das, 30, and Nitesh Das, 22, residents of Navadih and Posoi villages under Town police station limits, respectively. The third accused, identified as Hiran Ansari, 26, is a resident of Loharbandha village under Karmatanr police station limits.
Police Investigation Underway
Jamtara SP Shambhu Kumar Singh said, “Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were involved in organized cybercrime operations. We are also probing possible links with any larger gang or an inter-state network.”
Police said the confiscated devices would be sent for forensic examination, while investigators are analyzing data to trace the accused persons’ activities. The arrested individuals are being interrogated, and their contacts, bank accounts, and digital transactions are under scrutiny.
The accused remain in police custody as of Friday.
