In a significant development in the Salt Lake stadium vandalism case, Bidhannagar Police on Friday made three additional arrests, bringing the total number of individuals apprehended to nine. The arrests are connected to the widely publicized incident of rampage that occurred during an event featuring football legend Lionel Messi.
New Arrests Made Following Video Evidence
The police identified and arrested Riju Das and Soumyadeep Das from Lake Town, along with Tanmay Dey from Sodepur. Law enforcement officials stated that the trio was recognized from photographs and video footage capturing the destructive acts at the stadium. The arrests mark a continued crackdown on those involved in the disorderly conduct that marred the high-profile event.
Court Proceedings and Legal Arguments
The three arrested individuals were produced before the Bidhannagar ACJM court on the same day. The court has ordered them to be remanded in judicial custody until December 22.
Representing the defense, lawyers Pabitra Biswas and Saikat Mondal presented their arguments in court. They revealed that Riju and Soumyadeep are college students, while Tanmay is employed at a bank. The defense counsel contested the police's claims, arguing that the prosecution failed to present any concrete video evidence linking their clients to the vandalism.

Opposing the bail plea and advocating for the custodial detention of the three accused, public prosecutor Sabir Ali submitted a strong counter-argument.
