Transporter dies after assault over payment dispute in Loni

A 32-year-old transporter died under mysterious circumstances in Loni, Ghaziabad, with his family alleging that his condition worsened after he was assaulted with sticks and batons over a dispute related to warehouse work payment.

Victim identified

The deceased was identified as Sonu Singh, a resident of Loni. He is survived by his father Charan Singh, mother Mahesh Devi, wife Renu, son Aayush, and daughter Anshi.

Incident details

According to police, the incident took place on April 25. A complaint was filed by the deceased's father at Loni police station. Charan Singh alleged that his son was cleaning a warehouse at Gurjar Chowk Baag Ranap along with Parveja, Parveja, and Alok when a youth from the neighbourhood, Sonu, arrived there with Shahrukh and some unidentified people.

An argument broke out between them over the payment for the warehouse work, following which Sonu and others, in a fit of rage, began assaulting him with sticks, resulting in injuries to his back. On April 26, he died during treatment at GTB Hospital in Delhi.

Police investigation

Siddharth Gautam, ACP of Loni, said the complainant's son visited a nearby private hospital after the fight on April 25. After treatment, he was released and went home. On April 26, he was not feeling well and was taken to the government hospital in Loni, later referred to GTB Hospital, where he died in the evening. Panchanama of the body was done and it has been sent for autopsy. The autopsy report is awaited.

An FIR has been registered against Sonu, Shahrukh, and some unidentified persons under Sections 105 and 115(2) of BNS, along with relevant provisions of the SC/ST Act. Teams have been formed to investigate and arrest the accused.
