Incident Overview

In a tragic incident in Murulya village, Sullia taluk, Mangaluru, five-year-old twin brothers Jashwin and Jashwith drowned after allegedly falling into a waterbody near their house while playing on Saturday.

Sequence of Events

According to a complaint, Vasantha, the father, lived with his wife and their two five-year-old sons. He brought the children home from school in the afternoon. Later in the evening, Vasantha and his wife left the children at home and went to work in an agricultural field near their house. When the mother returned home after finishing work, the children were missing. The couple searched the surrounding area and found the bodies of both children in a pond near their house.

Legal Action

Based on the complaint, Bellare police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and have taken up further investigation.
