Two Arrested in Ludhiana ATM Theft, Rs 13.75 Lakh Recovered

The Ludhiana Commissionerate Police have successfully cracked an ATM theft case that occurred on June 13 at Partap Chowk, where miscreants broke open a Bank of Baroda (BOB) ATM. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime.

Arrests and Recovery

The police have apprehended Sudanshu Mahajan Shanty, originally from Amritsar but currently residing in Garhwali Mandir, Ludhiana, and Wasim Khan Motu, a native of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, who was living in a vehra in Dholewal, Ludhiana. Authorities recovered Rs 13.75 lakh of the total Rs 17 lakh stolen from the ATM.

Police Operation

DCP Jaskaran Singh Teja stated that special police teams, under the supervision of ADCP Karanveer Singh, identified the suspects and tracked their location during the investigation. The duo was arrested on Thursday.

Incident Details

The theft took place on June 13, and an FIR was registered at the Division Number 6 police station the following day based on a complaint from BOB branch manager Neelam Kumari. Investigation revealed that the suspects pretended to be homeless and slept near the ATM before targeting it at midnight on a weekend.

Ongoing Investigation

Police said further details about the suspects will be obtained from their native places, and efforts are underway to recover the remaining stolen amount.
