Two Men Killed, One Critical in Tiruvallur Road Rage Attack

Two men lost their lives and another suffered critical injuries in a brutal attack outside a hotel in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur district on Friday night. Police confirmed the incident stemmed from a road rage altercation earlier in the evening.

Police Arrest Four Suspects, Including Political Functionaries

Law enforcement authorities have arrested four individuals in connection with the violent assault. The arrested suspects include office-bearers from two political parties: Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam and the Bahujan Samaj Party.

The victims have been identified as Parthiban, a 32-year-old bank clerk from Sevvapet, and Sugumar, a 31-year-old private loan collection agent. Both men succumbed to their injuries. A third victim, 23-year-old Kesavamoorthy, remains in critical condition at Tiruvallur Government General Hospital.

Road Rage Escalates into Deadly Violence

The tragic sequence of events began when the three friends were returning from a Pongal trip to Kona Falls in Andhra Pradesh. Residents of Ondikuppam in Tiruvallur, they had stopped near a bakery around 7 pm.

According to police reports, two men on motorcycles - identified as Jyotish (34) and Vinothkumar (36) - allegedly rode past at dangerously high speed. When the victims questioned their reckless driving, a heated argument erupted between the groups.

Organized Attack Outside Hotel

The confrontation escalated dramatically hours later. Police say Jyotish and Vinothkumar gathered additional associates, including Neelakandan (30), a BSP functionary, and Jawahar (23), a TVK office-bearer. The group, allegedly under the influence of drugs, went searching for Parthiban and his friends.

At approximately 10 pm, they located the victims stepping out of a hotel. The attackers surrounded the three men, pelting stones and assaulting them with sharp weapons. Parthiban collapsed on the spot and died immediately from his injuries.

Hospitalizations and Fatalities

Sugumar and Kesavamoorthy were rushed to Tiruvallur Government General Hospital following the attack. Despite medical intervention, Sugumar suffered a cardiac arrest and died from his severe injuries. Kesavamoorthy continues to receive treatment for his critical condition.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Tiruvallur police registered cases for murder and attempted murder following the incident. Investigators subsequently apprehended four suspects: Neelakandan, Jyotish, Vinothkumar, and Jawahar.

During their attempted escape, two suspects sustained injuries. Neelakandan fractured his right leg while Jawahar fractured his right hand. After receiving medical treatment, all four accused were produced before a magistrate on Saturday and remanded to judicial custody.

Police Confirm Complete Arrests

Superintendent of Police Vivekananda Shukla stated that police have arrested all individuals involved in the violence. He confirmed that no other persons participated in the attack, bringing the investigation to a close regarding primary suspects.

The incident has shocked the local community in Tiruvallur, raising concerns about road safety and violent confrontations escalating into fatal attacks. Police continue to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the altercation and subsequent violence.
