Two Young Children Die in Tragic Rajkot Highway Accident
A joyous family gathering for Uttaryan turned into a nightmare on the Rajkot-Morbi highway. A speeding SUV crashed into a car late on January 14, claiming the lives of two young children.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The accident happened around 11:30 PM near Bedi Vachhkapar village. Relatives were returning home after celebrating the kite festival at Anil Koli's residence in Wankaner.
Anil, a transporter by profession, was driving his relatives back to Bedi village. As they crossed the road, a Scorpio SUV traveling from Rajkot towards Morbi struck their vehicle with tremendous force.
Immediate Aftermath and Hospital Response
The impact caused severe injuries to everyone in the car. Emergency services rushed the victims to Rajkot Civil Hospital using the 108 ambulance service.
Doctors at the hospital pronounced three-year-old Moksh Koli and nine-month-old Shreya Koli dead upon arrival. Both children were cousins celebrating the festival together.
Injured Family Members and Police Action
Four adult family members sustained serious injuries in the crash. They include Anil's wife Harsha, his brother-in-law Ajay (father of Moksh), sister-in-law Krishna, and another relative.
All injured persons are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Their conditions remain under medical supervision.
Kuvadva Road police station has registered a case against the Scorpio driver. Authorities have invoked Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Family Background and Celebration Turned Tragedy
The Koli family had gathered for Uttaryan festivities at Anil's home. Relatives from his wife's side, including brother-in-law Ajay and young Moksh, had traveled to participate in the celebrations.
What began as a happy family reunion ended in unimaginable tragedy on the highway. The community now mourns the loss of two innocent lives cut short during what should have been a festive occasion.
