Two workers are missing after falling into a sewage treatment tank operated by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) in Bengaluru's Varthur locality. A search operation is currently underway to locate them.

Accident Details

According to police officials, the workers had entered the nearly 60-foot-deep tank to repair three gates in the treatment system when the accident occurred. The tank is used for processing and treating wastewater. The incident took place on the morning of June 19, 2026.

Search Operation

Emergency response teams, including fire brigade personnel and divers, have been deployed to the site. The operation is focused on draining the tank to facilitate the search. Officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the workers.
