A tragic industrial accident in Trichy claimed the life of a 53-year-old welder on Monday night. The victim, identified as C Palani from Sengam in Tiruvannamalai district, fell from a significant height while carrying out repair work at a government-owned paddy storage facility.

The fatal accident occurred at a Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) godown located near Dhanarathinam Nagar in the Varaganeri area. Palani had been contracted to perform restructuring work at the site. On Monday morning, he was engaged in welding and installing asbestos sheets on the godown's ceiling.
While working at a height estimated to be over 30 feet, Palani lost his balance and accidentally fell to the ground. The fall resulted in severe and critical injuries. Eyewitnesses and nearby residents immediately rushed to his aid upon hearing the commotion.
Emergency Response and Fatal Outcome
The injured welder was first taken to the Trichy General Hospital for urgent medical attention. Given the seriousness of his condition, he was later transferred to a private hospital for advanced care. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Palani succumbed to his injuries on the same night.
