Shocking Crime Unfolds in Jamnagar Village
In a disturbing case from Gujarat's Jamnagar district, Jamjodhpur police have arrested a woman and her brother for the alleged murder of her 35-year-old husband. The accused claimed the victim had been making inappropriate advances toward her daughters from a previous marriage, leading to the fatal confrontation.
The Discovery That Shook Paradva Village
The grim discovery came to light when 55-year-old farmer Naga Jadeja received alarming information about a foul smell emanating from a well on his farm. The incident occurred in Paradva village, where the victim, identified as Soham alias Kalu Bhambhor, had been living for the past six months after originally hailing from Indore district in Madhya Pradesh.
According to police reports, Jadeja's son received a call from a concerned neighbor on November 29 about the suspicious odor. When Jadeja's son and nephew investigated, they made a horrifying discovery - a sack floating in the well with human legs protruding from it. The authorities were immediately alerted.
Unraveling the Timeline of Events
Investigation revealed that the murder had actually occurred approximately 20 days earlier on November 9. The victim's wife, Radha, and her brother, Patal Singh alias Rahul Dharve, had initially claimed that Kalu had returned to his hometown in Madhya Pradesh.
Both families had been working on Jadeja's farm for several months, with Radha's brother joining them two months ago along with his wife and two daughters. The two families shared accommodation in a single room on the farm premises.
Shortly after Kalu's disappearance, the siblings expressed concerns about pythons on the farm frightening the children and requested permission to move to another field. When Jadeja refused, they independently shifted to a neighboring farm.
The Confession and Murder Details
During police interrogation, Radha allegedly confessed to the crime, revealing that her husband would frequently harass her after drinking alcohol. She claimed the situation had escalated recently when Kalu began making advances toward her daughters from her previous marriage.
The fatal incident occurred on the night of November 9 when, according to Radha's statement, Kalu attempted to pull her daughter's leg while in an inebriated state. This triggered an altercation during which her brother Rahul struck Kalu on the head with a stick.
Radha admitted to hitting him several more times, after which the siblings realized he had died. In a desperate attempt to conceal their crime, they placed the body in a sack, tied it with stones, and dumped it in the farm well. Five days later, fearing discovery, they moved to another farm.
Legal Action and Investigation Progress
Farmer Naga Jadeja filed a formal complaint at the Jamjodhpur police station, with the case registered under BNS sections 103(1), 238(A) and 54. Investigation officer Alpesh Rabari confirmed that both accused were arrested within hours of the body's discovery.
Police are currently collecting additional evidence and statements to strengthen the case. The swift arrest highlights the efficiency of Jamjodhpur police in handling serious crimes in the region.
This tragic case sheds light on the extreme measures sometimes taken in domestic conflict situations and raises important questions about addressing harassment complaints through proper legal channels rather than vigilante justice.
