Woman Gangraped at Deserted Dhaba in Bahadurgarh, Four Suspects Arrested
A 42-year-old woman faced a horrific gangrape at a deserted roadside dhaba in Bahadurgarh early Monday morning. Police confirmed the arrest of four out of five accused men, with one still evading capture.
Incident Details and Police Response
The woman, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, traveled to Bahadurgarh with her uncle to search for employment opportunities. They disembarked from a bus at Pandit Shree Ram Sharma metro station on Delhi Metro's Green Line around 2 am on January 12. Her cousin arrived to meet them at the station.
At that moment, they noticed five men following them closely. By approximately 2:30 am, the men forcibly separated the woman from her relatives. They intimidated the uncle and cousin before taking the woman to a deserted dhaba located on Delhi-Rohtak Road.
The dhaba stands about 100 meters from the metro station. There, the men sexually assaulted the woman in a brutal attack.
After the family reported the crime, police formed multiple teams to track down the suspects. Officers registered an FIR at City police station in Bahadurgarh. They conducted a medical examination of the victim and recorded her statement before a magistrate.
Investigation Breakthrough Through Digital Evidence
Initially, the woman told police that the accused had stolen some belongings and insisted nothing else occurred. However, investigators later recovered a digital video recorder from a CCTV camera at the dhaba. The footage clearly captured the sexual assault.
Following this discovery, the woman agreed to provide a detailed statement. Her uncle subsequently filed a formal complaint about the incident.
Investigators uncovered a crucial lead through digital payment records. Shortly before the assault, the accused purchased liquor from a nearby shop. They paid Rs 100 in cash and transferred the remaining Rs 30 digitally through UPI.
"Tracing the Paytm account allowed us to identify the suspects and reconstruct the sequence of events," explained a police officer involved in the probe.
Local Crime Investigation Agency teams analyzed CCTV footage from the dhaba and surrounding areas. They used digital payment records, call detail records, social media analysis, and local intelligence inputs to narrow down the suspects.
Swift Arrests and Ongoing Manhunt
Within eight hours of the crime, police arrested four men. All suspects reside in Bahadurgarh, originally hail from Bihar, and live in rented accommodation in the Chhotu Ramnagar area.
Police have not released their names pending a test identification parade. The arrested men appeared before a Bahadurgarh court on Wednesday. The court remanded them in police custody for two days.
"Efforts are on to identify and apprehend the fifth accused," stated an officer involved in the case.

Jhajjar police commissioner Rajshree Singh praised her teams for making swift arrests. She emphasized the department's commitment to ensuring women's safety across the region.
"Strict action will be taken against those involved in crimes against women, and no offender will be spared," Commissioner Singh declared firmly.
The victim's identity remains protected according to Supreme Court directives regarding sexual assault cases. This protection safeguards her privacy during this difficult time.
