A tragic accident claimed the life of a 73-year-old woman in south-west Delhi's Dwarka area on Tuesday afternoon. Meena Gupta, a resident of Mohan Garden, was crossing a road when a crane struck her. The heavy vehicle crushed her under its weight, leading to her immediate death.

Police received a PCR call around 12 pm at the Dwarka North police station. PCR staff rushed to the scene and transported the injured woman to a nearby hospital. Doctors at the hospital declared her brought dead upon arrival. Authorities have registered a case at the Dwarka North police station to investigate the incident further.
Eyewitness Accounts and Family Details
Local people informed the police that Meena Gupta tried to signal the crane driver to stop. Witnesses claim the crane allegedly did not slow down despite her efforts. Her skull suffered severe crushing injuries from the crane's weight, causing her death on the spot.
Meena Gupta is survived by her husband, Satyaprakash Gupta, who is 75 years old and works as a property dealer. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary less than a month ago, marking a significant milestone in their lives.
Family's Heartbreaking Loss
Her son, Manoj Gupta, a 49-year-old businessman, described his mother as the backbone of their family. "She was our family's pillar. My father is diabetic, but she was very fit and took complete care of him. All they had was each other," he said emotionally.
Manoj added that despite her age, his mother remained independent and active. "She would often go out on her own. It was nothing unusual for her," he explained, highlighting her vibrant lifestyle.
Driver's Arrest and Bail
Police officials confirmed that they arrested the crane driver at the accident spot. The driver faced legal action but was later released on bail. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal incident.
