Datia Land Deal Turns Into Nightmare: 50-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Raped
Woman raped after being lured for land deal meeting in Datia

A horrific incident of sexual assault has been reported from Datia district in Madhya Pradesh, where a 50-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a neighbour after he lured her under the pretext of discussing a disputed land deal.

The Pretext of a Meeting

According to the police, the woman's family had sold a piece of their agricultural land to the accused neighbour without informing her. When she later discovered the transaction, she strongly objected and demanded that the land be returned to her. The accused reportedly used this dispute as a trap.

On Monday afternoon, the man called the woman for a meeting to supposedly talk about the land issue. He took her to a secluded room, where the situation took a terrifying turn. Despite her clear resistance and desperate cries for help, the accused did not stop and allegedly raped her.

A Harrowing Escape and Police Action

In a display of immense courage, the woman managed to escape from the secluded room following the assault. She immediately approached the Ghoraghat police station to file a formal complaint detailing the entire traumatic ordeal.

Acting swiftly on her complaint, the police registered a case against the accused on Monday evening itself. Ramesh Shakya, the in-charge of Ghoraghat police station, confirmed the developments to the media. "Based on her complaint, a case was registered against the accused on Monday evening, and we have launched a hunt to arrest him," Shakya stated.

Community Shock and Ongoing Investigation

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising serious concerns about women's safety and the exploitation of personal disputes for violent crime. The police investigation is currently focused on locating and apprehending the accused neighbour, who is currently absconding.

This case highlights the critical need for vigilance, especially when dealing with financial or property matters. It also underscores the importance of prompt police response in such sensitive cases to ensure justice for the survivor.
