MUMBAI: The Andheri Police registered a case against a youth, Abhinandan Sule, for trespassing on Metro tracks and causing a delay in services, after metro services between Dahisar and Versova had to be suspended for 17 minutes.
The complainant, a security guard at the Metro One Andheri station, was on duty on Wednesday afternoon when he received a call from the station controller via walkie-talkie. He was informed that there had been unauthorised access to the tracks at Platform No. 2 and that an individual had stepped onto the tracks; consequently, the metro train had been halted.
Acting on this information, the complainant proceeded towards Platform 2, where he spotted a person walking along the tracks from the direction of Azad Nagar Metro Station. The complainant approached the individual to stop him, took him into custody, and brought him to the Andheri Metro Station.
Because he had walked on the tracks, metro services between Dahisar and Versova had to be suspended for 17 minutes. Sule was taken into custody and brought to the Andheri Police Station, said a police officer from Andheri police station.
Impact on Metro Services
The unauthorised entry led to a temporary halt in operations, affecting commuters traveling between Dahisar and Versova. The 17-minute suspension caused inconvenience to passengers during peak afternoon hours.
Legal Action Taken
The police have registered a case against Abhinandan Sule under relevant sections for trespassing and endangering public safety. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the act.
