A tragic road accident in Gwalior claimed the life of a food delivery executive on Monday afternoon, leading to significant public outcry and road blockades. The incident occurred when a truck, which had illegally entered a no-entry zone, collided with the victim's electric bike.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The victim has been identified as Sameer Khan, a resident of the Murar police station area near the leather factory. The accident took place between 3 pm and 3:30 pm on the DD Nagar–Patari Road in the Maharajpura area. Khan was riding his e-bike when the truck struck him with significant force. He succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the spot.

Public Outrage and Road Blockade

The fatal incident triggered immediate protests from Khan's grieving family members and his fellow delivery executives. In a powerful display of anguish and demand for justice, they blocked the affected road. This protest action caused extensive traffic snarls, with congestion stretching from Gole Ka Mandir all the way to Pintoo Park on Bhind Road.

Local authorities, including police and district administration officials, rushed to the scene. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) was also present to engage with the protesters and work towards restoring order on the chaotic stretch.

Police Action and Administrative Response

The police have seized the truck involved in the deadly accident. However, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. A manhunt is currently underway to trace and apprehend the absconding driver.

In response to the protests, the district administration provided assurances of financial support to the victim's family. They promised an immediate cash relief of Rs 1,500 and committed to providing financial assistance of Rs 20,000. Following these assurances, the protesters agreed to lift the road blockade.

The body of Sameer Khan was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination. The police have registered a formal case, and a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the accident is now in progress.
