AAP Holds Protest in Ludhiana Over Fuel Price Hike
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest in Ludhiana on Monday against the recent hike in fuel prices. Party workers gathered at the city's main square, holding placards and shouting slogans against the central government's decision to increase petrol and diesel rates.
Addressing the gathering, senior AAP leader and former MLA Dr. Baljinder Kaur condemned the price rise, stating that it has added to the financial burden of common citizens. She said, "The central government is insensitive to the plight of the people. Fuel prices are skyrocketing, and the government is doing nothing to control them. This is a direct attack on the common man."
The protestors demanded an immediate rollback of the price hike and a reduction in fuel taxes. They also criticized the state government for not providing relief to the people. The protest lasted for about two hours, after which the party workers dispersed peacefully.
This protest is part of a series of demonstrations planned by the AAP across Punjab to highlight the issue of rising fuel prices. The party has been vocal about the need for the central government to reduce excise duty on fuel and bring it under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime to ensure uniform pricing across the country.
Meanwhile, the Ludhiana police maintained a tight vigil during the protest to avoid any untoward incident. No arrests were made, and the protest concluded without any violence.
