Akhilesh Yadav Accuses BJP of Orchestrated Voter List Tampering
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging systematic manipulation of voter lists through the misuse of Form-7, the prescribed Election Commission document for deleting names from electoral rolls. In a dramatic development from Lucknow, Yadav has called for urgent Supreme Court intervention, stating he has lost faith in all other democratic institutions.
Evidence of Organized Fraud Presented
Yadav has uploaded multiple videos featuring booth level officers and 'PDA Praharis' - SP volunteers overseeing the Summary Revision of electoral rolls - who narrate detailed accounts of large-scale irregularities. "The organized manner in which the BJP has taken over the SIR exercise suggests the Election Commission should now put its logo on houses of BJP functionaries," Yadav declared, adding that it was time for the ECI to "turn the houses of BJP functionaries into booths."
Specific Cases of Alleged Manipulation
The evidence presented includes disturbing specifics:
- In Gonda Sadar assembly constituency (seat number 296), booth numbers 112 to 116 of Raja Mohalla witnessed a batch of Form-7 applications submitted under the name of Dinesh Kumar, with his phone number clearly mentioned. When contacted, the former corporator denied submitting any forms and confirmed the signatures were forged.
- In Rae Bareli Sadar's booth number 166, a stack of Form-7 applications seeking deletion of Muslim names were allegedly filed by unauthorized individuals. Local SP functionaries have submitted a formal memorandum to the District Magistrate regarding this incident.
- Booth Level Officers Meena Yadav and Meeta Devi from booths 111 and 114 reported that a Booth Level Agent named Amarnath handed them bundles of Form-7 applications and demanded receipts.
Targeted Communities and Criminal Tactics
"BJP and its associates are acting as criminals," Akhilesh Yadav asserted in a social media post. "They are threatening Booth Level Officers and pressuring them to delete votes of the PDA community in general and the Muslim community in particular using forged documents." The SP chief emphasized this represents a deliberate attempt to undermine democratic processes by targeting specific voter demographics.
Demands for Immediate Action
Yadav has made several critical demands:
- Immediate suspension of Form-7 usage until a foolproof alternative system is established
- A comprehensive judicial probe to identify forces behind what he calls "a large-scale attempt to derail the democratic setup"
- Documentation of all Form-7 misuse with concrete evidence for filing First Information Reports
- Direct Supreme Court intervention as "the last hope" after other institutions have failed
The political confrontation escalates as Yadav questions whether the Election Commission has "hired BJP on contract" to conduct the Summary Revision of electoral rolls, marking a significant deterioration in opposition trust in electoral oversight mechanisms during a crucial election period.
