Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed at the Trichy International Airport late on Friday night, setting the stage for a series of significant political events in the poll-bound state of Tamil Nadu. After his delayed flight from New Delhi, which pushed his arrival to approximately 11:30 PM instead of the initially planned 9:15 PM, Shah proceeded to a star hotel in the Cantonment area of Trichy city for an overnight stay. On Saturday morning, he is scheduled to engage in crucial interactions with senior BJP leaders. This includes meetings with state president Nainar Nagenthran and Ponguletti Sudhakar Reddy, the party's national co-in-charge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, to strategize and discuss alliance dynamics.
Key Events in Karaikal and Return Plans
From Trichy airport, Shah will depart via helicopter on Saturday morning for Karaikal, an enclave of the Puducherry Union Territory located about 150 kilometers away. In Karaikal, he will participate in various events, culminating in a public meeting aimed at bolstering the BJP's presence and outreach. Following the completion of these engagements, Shah is expected to return to Trichy airport by helicopter on Saturday evening, from where he will board a flight back to New Delhi.
This visit follows Shah's previous trip to Trichy and Pudukottai in January, where he took part in party events and Pongal celebrations, and held a closed-door meeting with former AIADMK minister S P Velumani to discuss alliance strategies. The repeated visits highlight the BJP's concerted efforts to strengthen its foothold in Tamil Nadu, a key battleground state in the political landscape.
