Bokaro Administration Intensifies Media Oversight Ahead of Municipal Elections
With municipal elections approaching in Bokaro, the Chas district administration has significantly escalated its media oversight efforts to guarantee a free, fair, and transparent electoral process. On Sunday, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Ajay Nath Jha issued directives for a comprehensive evaluation of publicity campaigns, enhanced social media monitoring, and strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
Focus on Voter Engagement and Outreach
Emphasizing the critical importance of voter participation, Jha has instructed officials to launch extensive outreach initiatives across print, electronic, and social media platforms. Special attention is being directed toward engaging young voters, women, and first-time participants to ensure maximum awareness about polling day procedures and schedules.
Appointment of Senior Media Officer
To streamline media coordination, Deputy Development Commissioner Shatabdi Majumdar has been appointed as the senior officer of the public relations department. Her responsibilities include supervising media interactions, approving all publicity materials, issuing press releases, and monitoring the systematic dissemination of election-related information to the public.
Continuous Monitoring for MCC Compliance
District Public Relations Officer Ravi Kumar has been directed to maintain a continuous watch on newspapers, television channels, and digital platforms to prevent any violations of the Model Code of Conduct. Dedicated teams have been deputed to take immediate action against any misleading, objectionable, or unlawful content that could disrupt the electoral environment.
Establishment of District Control Room
A fully functional district control room has been established to serve citizens, candidates, and political parties. This facility allows for the reporting of complaints, including MCC violations, through multiple helplines: 8986660333, 06542-242409, 06542-241000, and the emergency number 112. The administration has made a strong appeal to the public to cooperate in maintaining peaceful and transparent elections by promptly reporting any irregularities.
The proactive measures underscore the administration's commitment to upholding electoral integrity and fostering a conducive atmosphere for democratic participation in Bokaro's upcoming municipal polls.
