Protest Continues Overnight at Jantar Mantar
The Cockroach Janta Party's sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar entered its second day on Saturday, with leader Dipke calling for farmers' support and urging NEET candidates to join the demonstration after completing their exams. The protest, which began on Friday, demands the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination process.
Despite the passage of the night, Dipke and several other protesters remained at the site, maintaining their vigil. The group has vowed to continue the agitation until their demands are met. The protest has drawn attention to issues surrounding the NEET exam, which thousands of students take annually for medical admissions.
Dipke Appeals to Farmers and Students
Speaking to the media, Dipke reiterated the party's core demand for the education minister's resignation. He also made a direct appeal to farmers, asking them to join the protest to strengthen the movement. Additionally, he called on NEET candidates to participate after their examination, emphasizing that the issue directly affects their future.
“We want justice for students. The education minister has failed in his duties, and he must step down. I request farmers and NEET candidates to join us after their exam to make this protest successful,” Dipke said, according to PTI.
Background of the Stir
The Cockroach Janta Party, a relatively new political outfit, has been vocal about education reforms. The party claims that the NEET examination process has been marred by corruption and mismanagement, leading to unfair outcomes for students. The sit-in at Jantar Mantar is part of a broader campaign to highlight these issues and push for accountability.
The protest has seen participation from students, activists, and supporters of the party. Security arrangements have been tightened at the venue to manage the crowd. The Delhi Police are monitoring the situation to ensure peaceful proceedings.
Looking Ahead
As the protest enters its second day, the Cockroach Janta Party plans to escalate their agitation if the government does not respond. Dipke has hinted at further actions, including a march to the Ministry of Education. The party is also reaching out to other student organizations and political groups to build a coalition for their cause.
The demand for Pradhan's resignation has gained traction on social media, with hashtags like #ResignPradhan and #NEETScam trending. However, the government has yet to issue an official response to the allegations.
