Congress Leaders Voice Concerns Over PM Modi's Israel Knesset Address
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed strong expectations on Wednesday regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's forthcoming address to the Israeli Knesset. She publicly voiced hope that the Prime Minister would utilize this significant international platform to raise the critical issue of the Gaza genocide and forcefully demand justice for the Palestinian people.
A Call for India's Historical Moral Leadership
In a detailed post on the social media platform X, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra invoked India's long-standing diplomatic legacy. "India has consistently stood for what is morally right throughout our proud history as an independent nation," she asserted. "It is imperative that we continue to be a beacon, showing the unwavering light of truth, peace, and justice to the entire world." Her statement framed the Israel visit as a test of India's commitment to these foundational principles on the global stage.
Rahul Gandhi's Satirical Jab References Epstein Files
Adding a layer of political satire to the criticism, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi referenced the recently publicized Epstein Files to mock the Prime Minister. In a pointed remark, he suggested, "At least on one previous occasion, you have already 'danced and sung' in Israel allegedly at the behest of Jeffrey Epstein." He then posed a provocative question: "So this time, the nation wants to know, on whose fresh orders will you potentially strike a deal that could compromise our country's core interests?" This comment insinuated external influence on foreign policy decisions.
Congress Spokesman Alleges Epstein Shaped Bilateral Ties
At a press briefing, Congress spokesman Pawan Khera presented dramatic allegations supported by a movie-style parody poster titled 'Jeffrey Ne Bana Di Jodi'. He cited specific email exchanges released as part of the Epstein Files to level a serious charge. Khera claimed that the very foundation of the strengthened India-Israel relationship in the period following 2014 was not only laid down but actively shaped by the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
"The architectural blueprint of contemporary India-Israel ties post-2014 was drafted by Jeffrey Epstein," Khera stated emphatically. He connected a chain of individuals, alleging, "The network involving former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Jeffrey Epstein, and Union Minister Hardeep Puri... this is the troubling nexus through which, we allege, a significant portion of our foreign policy was clandestinely molded." This allegation represents a direct attack on the government's diplomatic decision-making process.
The coordinated statements from senior Congress figures highlight a two-pronged political offensive: a moral appeal concerning the Gaza conflict and a controversial allegation linking a convicted criminal to the Modi government's foreign policy architecture with Israel. The developments set the stage for intense parliamentary and public debate upon the Prime Minister's return from his diplomatic mission.
