CPM Members Mock M V Govindan, Compare to Nonsensical Song

Kottayam: The recent CPM state secretary M V Govindan faced sharp criticism at the party's Adoor area committee meeting, with some members even ridiculing his news conferences. Drawing an analogy to the song 'Cham Chacha Chom Chacha' from the 1980 Jayan-starrer 'Love in Singapore', party members expressed confusion over the meaning and purpose of Govindan's press briefings, comparing them to the seemingly nonsensical lyrics of the track.

Demand for Pinarayi Vijayan to Step Aside

During the meeting, several members went further and demanded that Pinarayi Vijayan step down from his position as leader of the opposition, arguing that he should set an example by resigning. The calls for his exit came amid broader discontent within the party ranks.

Allegations of Vote Swindling

The meeting also called for a thorough investigation into allegations that some CPM functionaries had promised votes and swindled money by claiming they could deliver certain community votes. These accusations added to the tension within the party, highlighting internal issues that need to be addressed.

Criticism of CPI's Role in Adoor

Members criticized the CPI for its lack of effort in the Adoor constituency, stating that the party did nothing apart from fielding Priji Kannan. There was also criticism that a 'negative vote' against three-time MLA Chittayam Gopakumar contributed to Priji Kannan's defeat in the elections.

The meeting underscored growing internal dissent and the need for the party to address these issues transparently and effectively.
