DRDO Chief Lauds Indigenous Missile Technology in Operation Sindoor

Ranchi witnessed a significant acknowledgment of India's defence prowess as Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) director general Dr Binay Kumar Das emphasized the nation's indigenous technological capabilities during Operation Sindoor. Addressing the third convocation ceremony at Sarla Birla University on Wednesday, Das stated that this operation demonstrated India's position among the select few countries capable of utilizing homegrown technology to defend its sovereignty effectively.

Indigenous Missile Systems Take Center Stage

Dr Binay Kumar Das specifically referenced the deployment of Akash and BrahMos missile systems during Operation Sindoor, highlighting that both were developed using completely indigenous technology. He emphasized that these systems represent the trust placed by both the Indian Army and citizens in domestically manufactured weaponry. "India is fundamentally a peace-loving nation," Das remarked, "but we must maintain adequate arms and ammunition to safeguard that peace on a global scale."

From Failed Attempts to Global Recognition

The DRDO chief provided historical context about India's missile development journey, revealing that three decades ago when the missile program commenced, engineers lacked comprehensive understanding of building such sophisticated systems. "After nearly 100 failed attempts," Das shared, "we eventually succeeded in developing functional missiles. Today, India stands proudly recognized as a global missile power." He expressed profound pride in contributing to India's defence manufacturing capabilities that are actively employed in national protection.

Governor Encourages Students to Embrace Failure

Speaking as the chief guest, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar offered inspirational advice to graduating students, urging them not to fear failure but instead move forward with discipline and self-confidence. He encouraged the youth to utilize their acquired skills for the betterment of both Jharkhand state and the entire nation, describing youth power as absolutely vital to achieving the vision of 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).
