Gadkari Stresses India's Peaceful Intent, Calls for National Strength
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari declared on Sunday that India harbors no ambitions of territorial conquest but must fortify its capabilities to foster global peace. Speaking at the Sant Namdev Maharaj Rashtriya Ekatmata Vishwa Mahasammelan in Nagpur's Reshimbagh ground, he asserted that only a powerful nation can safeguard non-violence and stability worldwide.
Defense and Technology as Pillars of Peace
Gadkari, the Nagpur Lok Sabha MP, underscored the critical need for advancements in India's defense sector. "We must undertake research, not because we desire to be authoritarian, expansionist, or dictatorial," he stated. "India does not seek to capture any country's land or encroach upon others. However, a universal truth remains: only a strong nation can establish and maintain peace."
He elaborated that modern warfare has transformed dramatically from traditional methods. "In the past, conflicts involved truckloads of soldiers engaging in close combat," Gadkari explained. "Today, missiles can travel 3,000 kilometers to strike targets precisely, highlighting the necessity for technological prowess in defense."
Empowering Youth Through Education
Gadkari also placed significant emphasis on education as a cornerstone of national strength. He urged the youth to pursue knowledge-intensive fields, stating, "Our young people must aspire to become doctors and engineers. Numerous respected institutions exist, and societal efforts are ongoing. The repositories of knowledge are accessible to all, enabling us to build a robust foundation."
He reiterated that India's goal is not aggression but empowerment. "To genuinely protect peace and non-violence, we must enrich India with knowledge, science, and technology," Gadkari affirmed. This approach, he believes, will position India as a global force for harmony without compromising its peaceful values.
