Gaya DM Orders Uninterrupted Power Supply Amid Outage Complaints

The district administration of Gaya has instructed power officials to remain on high alert and ensure an uninterrupted power supply in response to a surge in complaints about outages across the city. On Friday, District Magistrate (DM) Shashank Shubhankar summoned officials from the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) and requested a detailed report on the power supply situation, particularly in Gaya town.

DM Expresses Concern Over Frequent Power Cuts

The DM highlighted that numerous complaints regarding frequent power cuts due to technical snags, transformer burnouts, and infrastructure or maintenance shortcomings have been reported. He stated, "Such complaints are regularly received from different parts of the city, including high-demand areas such as commercial centres on GB Road, KP Road, Dak Bungalow Road, Tekari Road and SP Road." He directed officials to remain on high alert until the intensity of summer subsides and to ensure hassle-free and uninterrupted power supply. They have also been instructed to promptly address complaints of disruptions.

SBPDCL Response and DM's Directives

SBPDCL officials informed the DM that technicians are working in three shifts round-the-clock across all areas to carry out remedial measures. However, expressing dissatisfaction, the DM directed them to strengthen the workforce by recruiting more linemen and gangmen. The DM also expressed unhappiness over reports that complaint calls were not being properly attended. Officials were directed to receive all calls and ensure immediate response.

Officials further stated that an adequate number of transformers are available in ready-to-use condition for timely replacement. In the past 24 hours, at least 30 burnt transformers have been replaced. The DM also directed SBPDCL officials to constitute a dedicated night-duty team to handle issues promptly.

This move comes as residents of Gaya have been facing frequent power cuts, especially during the peak summer months, leading to significant inconvenience. The district administration's proactive stance aims to mitigate these issues and ensure reliable electricity supply for all consumers.
