Gujarat Chief Minister Oversees Sabarmati Ashram Modernization Progress
In a significant development for heritage conservation in Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presided over a crucial meeting of the governing council of the Mahatma Gandhi Sabarmati Ashram Memorial Trust (MGSAMT) in Gandhinagar on Friday. The high-level session focused on assessing the ongoing modernization and renovation initiatives at the historic Sabarmati Ashram, a site of immense national importance.
Detailed Review of Restoration and Environmental Efforts
According to an official statement released after the meeting, comprehensive progress reports on various works related to the ashram's revitalization were thoroughly examined. A key highlight of the review was the restoration of 28 houses within the ashram premises. Of these, restoration work has been successfully completed on 22 houses, marking a substantial achievement in preserving the architectural and historical integrity of the site.
The remaining houses are currently under active restoration, with authorities projecting that all work will be finalized by March. This timeline underscores the government's commitment to timely and efficient heritage conservation.
Massive Greening Initiative Underway
