Guru Arjan Dev Martyrdom Day Observed in Amritsar

The martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Sikh Guru, was observed with devotion across Amritsar on Thursday. A large number of chabeels (sweetened water stalls) and langars (community kitchens) were organized throughout the city to mark the occasion.

At the Golden Temple, volunteers were seen preparing chabeel early in the morning. Devotees queued up to receive the sweetened water as a mark of respect. The langars served free meals to thousands of visitors, reflecting the Sikh tradition of seva (selfless service).

The day commemorates the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev, who was tortured and executed in 1606 under the orders of Mughal Emperor Jahangir. His death is considered a pivotal event in Sikh history.
