Haryana Chief Minister Rejects Pension Cut Allegations as Misinformation

During the ongoing budget session of the Haryana assembly, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini addressed concerns over alleged pension cuts, firmly rejecting the claims as "politically motivated misinformation". He emphasized that the state government had not discontinued pensions but had instead strengthened social security measures for the elderly.

Senior Citizens Praised as Moral Backbone of Society

In his speech, Saini called senior citizens the "moral backbone of society" and stated that safeguarding their dignity and ensuring their financial and social security remained a central priority of the state government. He highlighted the government's commitment to protecting this vulnerable section from hardship.

Allegations of Deliberate Confusion Spread by Opposition

Taking a swipe at the opposition, Saini alleged that rumours about pension discontinuation were deliberately spread to create confusion among senior citizens. He described spreading such misinformation as irresponsible and unfortunate, particularly when it targeted a group that relies on these benefits for their well-being.

Streamlined Pension Delivery Through Technology

Saini detailed how the government has streamlined pension delivery through a transparent, technology-driven mechanism. Beneficiaries now receive real-time SMS alerts once pensions are credited directly to their bank accounts. This system enables hassle-free withdrawals without repeated visits to government offices, ensuring convenience and efficiency.

Contrast with Previous Congress Regime

Drawing a contrast with the previous Congress regime, the CM claimed that senior citizens earlier faced long delays, sometimes waiting months for payments. They had to make multiple visits to offices, often in extreme weather conditions, which added to their difficulties. In comparison, the current system is designed to minimize such hardships.

Commitment to Transparency and Dignity

Emphasizing the government's commitment, Saini said the current pension system is transparent, accountable, and ensures elderly citizens receive their entitlements with dignity. He reiterated that the state's focus is on providing a secure and respectful environment for senior citizens, reinforcing their role as pillars of society.
