Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Baltal base camp in Ganderbal on Sunday to review preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. During the visit, he chaired a meeting with senior officials from the police, security forces, and civil administration to assess the arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.
Focus on Security and Infrastructure
Sinha directed the police and other security agencies to maintain the highest level of vigilance throughout the yatra route. He emphasized the need for robust security measures to ensure the safety of pilgrims. The L-G also reviewed infrastructure facilities, including road conditions, accommodation, medical services, and sanitation at the base camp.
Coordination Among Agencies
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, and other paramilitary forces. They discussed coordination protocols and contingency plans for any emergency situations. According to officials, the administration aims to provide a seamless and safe experience for the thousands of devotees expected to participate in the yatra.
Preparations for the Yatra Season
The Amarnath Yatra, which involves a challenging trek to the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva at 3,880 meters, typically attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims. The Baltal route is one of the two main access points, known for being shorter but steeper. The L-G's review underscores the administration's commitment to ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place ahead of the pilgrimage.
