According to eyewitness accounts from villagers, the leopard seized the child in its jaws and dragged him toward nearby agricultural fields. Family members and neighbors immediately raised alarms and pursued the animal in a desperate attempt to rescue the boy.

The leopard eventually abandoned the severely injured child in a field and fled toward the adjacent forest. Villagers later discovered Raghuveer in a sugarcane field with critical injuries. He was rushed to the primary health centre in Sujouli, where medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival.
