A major anti-encroachment operation was conducted to clear illegal structures around the Howrah railway station area in West Bengal. The drive was carried out jointly by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), railway authorities, and the Howrah City Police.
Heavy Security Deployment
To ensure the eviction process proceeded without any untoward incidents, a significant number of security personnel were deployed across the area. The coordinated effort aimed to remove unauthorized encroachments that had been causing congestion and security concerns in and around the busy station premises.
Details of the Operation
The operation targeted makeshift shops, illegal constructions, and other unauthorized structures that had occupied public space and railway land. Authorities had previously issued warnings to encroachers, but the final eviction drive became necessary to restore order and improve accessibility for commuters.
Local residents and frequent travelers have expressed relief, hoping that the clearance will lead to better traffic management and enhanced safety. The railway authorities have stated that they will continue to monitor the area to prevent re-encroachment.
