NDRF Commandant HPS Kandari provided a detailed breakdown of the recovery efforts. Eighteen bodies were retrieved on February 5, followed by four more on February 6, and the latest two on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ex-gratia relief from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Families of the deceased will receive Rs 2 lakh each, while injured victims will be provided with Rs 50,000. The Prime Minister shared his condolences, saying: "Pained by the mishap in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest."
