Union Minister Satish Dubey Defends Budget as Pro-People, Criticizes Congress in Hisar Speech
Union Minister of State Satish Dubey on Sunday staunchly defended the Union Budget, describing it as a "pro-people" blueprint for development while launching a blistering attack on the Congress party for what he termed unconstitutional conduct in Parliament.
Speaking at the BJP office in Hisar, Dubey accused opposition leaders, specifically targeting Rahul Gandhi, of prioritizing political theater over substantive democratic debate. "The opposition is more interested in creating disruptions than participating in meaningful debate," Dubey asserted during his address.
Rebuttal to Election Concerns and Opposition Tactics
The minister directly addressed recent objections raised by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the special intensive revision of voter lists. Dubey dismissed concerns about voter list revision, EVM credibility, and institutional independence as recurring tactics employed by opposition parties when facing electoral challenges.
"The voter-list revision process is a standard procedure and not a new initiative," Dubey emphasized. He alleged that opposition parties only question electronic voting machines when they lose elections, while accepting results without complaint when they emerge victorious.
Reaffirming the government's position, Dubey stated that the Election Commission remains an independent constitutional body free from federal interference. He further accused the West Bengal government of politicizing the issue of undocumented immigrants to secure a specific vote base.
Economic Reforms and Rural Development Initiatives
Highlighting what he described as the "pro-people" nature of the Union Budget, Dubey pointed to several key agricultural and digital initiatives aimed at strengthening the rural economy. He specifically mentioned Digital Kisan and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi as programs designed to integrate technology with farming while providing direct financial support to farmers.
Dubey noted the government's success in achieving national self-sufficiency in pulse production, a significant milestone for food security. Regarding enhancements to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, he explained that increasing working days and including permanent construction projects would substantially improve rural infrastructure development.
The Digital Transformation of Governance
Dubey took a historical swipe at previous Congress-led administrations, referencing a famous remark by late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi that only a fraction of central funds reached intended beneficiaries. He claimed the current government had eradicated this systemic leakage through the Jan Dhan Yojana and Digital India frameworks.
"The Modi government has changed this system entirely," Dubey declared. "Through direct benefit transfers, subsidies now reach the bank accounts of the poor without any middleman involvement, ensuring transparency and efficiency in welfare distribution."
The minister's remarks underscored the government's commitment to leveraging technology for governance reform while defending its economic policies against opposition criticism.
