PM Modi Denounces Left as 'Retrograde Ideology' While Applauding BJP MP's Courageous Rajya Sabha Speech
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a sharp critique against Left politics, labeling it a "retrograde ideology" that has significantly diminished in influence. His remarks came during a session where he praised BJP Member of Parliament from Kerala, C Sadanandan Master, for his maiden speech in the Rajya Sabha, delivered on February 2.
BJP MP's Powerful Display of Prosthetic Legs Highlights Political Brutality
During his address, Master displayed his prosthetic legs to underscore the brutality he endured over three decades ago in an alleged attack by supporters of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). This act aimed to highlight the violence perpetrated by his political rivals, a claim that CPM members have firmly rejected. Modi expressed admiration for Master's courage, noting that the MP lost his legs in this brutal incident.
"Your courage is widely known in Kerala and to many of us, but when you displayed the artificial limbs that support you, it surprised people in Parliament and across the length and breadth of India," Modi stated. "People were unable to digest how in a vibrant democracy like ours, a hardworking teacher could be attacked like this by followers of a retrograde ideology."
Modi Highlights Shrinking Influence of Left Ideology
The Prime Minister emphasized that this retrograde ideology has greatly shrunk, contrasting it with Master's proud presence in Parliament today. He also criticized the behavior of some MPs who mocked Master and questioned his struggles, describing it as appalling even by their own low standards. While Modi did not directly name the Left parties, his comments were clearly targeted at them.
Modi echoed Sadanandan's concerns about the political landscape in Kerala, which is gearing up for elections. He asserted that people are weary of the two main rival alliances: the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and the CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF). In Kerala, the BJP has made some electoral gains but remains a distant third force.
Kerala's Political Future and Development Vision
Reflecting on his recent visit to Thiruvananthapuram, Modi highlighted the exceptional welcome he received, particularly from the youth. "The presence of youngsters in particular was gladdening to see. It shows that the people of Kerala are appreciating our vision of Vikasita Keralam," he remarked.
He expressed confidence that Kerala would benefit substantially from the recently presented Union Budget, which includes provisions across various sectors. Modi assured that these measures would contribute to the state's development and align with the broader vision for a progressive Kerala.
This speech underscores the ongoing political tensions in Kerala and Modi's strategic focus on amplifying the BJP's presence in the state, while simultaneously targeting the ideological foundations of the Left parties.
