Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni Urges Amit Shah for Government Job to Terror Victim's Daughter
Rajya Sabha member Medha Kulkarni has made a formal appeal to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging immediate action to provide a government job to Asawari Jagdale, the daughter of Santosh Jagdale, who tragically lost his life in the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 last year.
Assurances Made by State Leadership
In a detailed letter addressed to Amit Shah, Kulkarni highlighted that in the immediate aftermath of this devastating incident, the bereaved family received assurances of support from senior state leadership. This included promises from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
It was specifically conveyed that, as part of the state government's commitment towards families of terror victims, compassionate government employment would be provided to Asawari Jagdale, who was also a victim of the incident.
Prolonged Delay Causing Distress
"No formal communication has been conveyed by the authorities concerned despite the passage of more than nine months and repeated representations made by the family," Kulkarni stated in her letter.
She emphasized that this prolonged delay has resulted in significant emotional distress and financial hardship for the bereaved family, who have been waiting patiently for the promised assistance.
Asawari Jagdale's Qualifications
Kulkarni provided details about Asawari Jagdale's academic and professional background:
- Completed an MBA in Human Resources Management
- Holds a BSc degree in Computer Science
- Possesses relevant experience working in the private sector
The family was originally assured appointment to a Class-II Administrative Officer post in the General Administration Department, according to the letter.
Specific Request for Compassionate Appointment
"The family has now humbly requested consideration for compassionate appointment, preferably to the promised post, or alternatively to a suitable post in Pune Municipal Corporation or state government services, subject to eligibility and suitability," the Rajya Sabha MP added in her communication.
Pune Municipal Corporation's Response
When contacted about the matter, Vijay Thorat, Deputy Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation's General Administration Department, stated: "We have sent a proposal to the state government. A reply is awaited."
The case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by families of terror victims in receiving promised government support and compensation, even when clear commitments have been made by state authorities.
