Kalaburagi Police Commissioner Sharanappa S D on Friday led a walkathon to raise awareness against drug addiction, describing it as a double-edged sword that harms health, families, and society. The event was held in collaboration with the City Police Commissionerate, District Police, KSRP, and Naganahalli Police Training College.
Walkathon draws enthusiastic participation
Police officers, staff, and students from various educational institutions participated enthusiastically in the walkathon. Participants carried placards highlighting the ill-effects of drug addiction. The event marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse, observed annually on June 26.
Commissioner's message on drug abuse
Commissioner Sharanappa S D emphasized that drug addiction is a serious issue that not only affects the individual's health but also destroys families and poses a threat to society. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on building a healthy and productive life. According to the Commissioner, awareness campaigns and community involvement are crucial in combating the menace.

The walkathon saw participation from the District Police, KSRP (Karnataka State Reserve Police), and Naganahalli Police Training College. Students from local schools and colleges also joined, demonstrating the community's collective resolve against drug abuse.
