In a significant administrative overhaul of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and senior officers across Maharashtra, the Nagpur city police department has been bolstered with three new deputy commissioners of police (DCPs). The fresh appointees—Annapurna Singh, Aditya Mirkhedkar, and Kumar Chintha—bring new leadership to the city's law enforcement framework.
Key Appointments and Transfers
Kumar Chintha, who previously served as superintendent of police (SP) in Yavatmal, has been transferred to Nagpur to assume the role of DCP. He succeeds Nityanand Jha, who was serving as DCP Zone 2 in Nagpur and has now been reassigned as the new SP of Yavatmal. This swap ensures a balanced exchange of experience between the two districts.
In a move to maintain stability, incumbent DCP Zone 3 Rahul Madane has been granted a one-year extension in his current position. Additionally, Yogesh Gupta has been retained as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Naxal Range, underscoring the administration's focus on continuity in critical roles.
Further Changes in Leadership
Another notable change involves Lohit Matani, who was handling traffic management as DCP in Nagpur city. He has been appointed as the new SP of Highway Patrol, a role that will leverage his expertise in traffic and road safety. These adjustments are part of a broader strategy to optimize police leadership across the state.
