Newly appointed Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Kewal Dhillon has asserted that the party will form the government in the state after the 2027 assembly elections. Speaking to the media, Dhillon launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing it of failing to deliver on its electoral promises.
Allegations of Unfulfilled Promises
Dhillon claimed that the AAP government had made numerous pledges to the people of Punjab before coming to power but has not fulfilled any of them. He alleged that instead of progress, the state is witnessing a “goonda raj” (rule of hooligans), with law and order deteriorating under the current administration. The BJP leader emphasized that the people of Punjab are disillusioned with the AAP's performance and are looking for a credible alternative.
Roadmap for 2027
Outlining the BJP's strategy, Dhillon said the party would work tirelessly to expose the failures of the AAP government and build a strong organizational network across the state. He expressed confidence that the BJP, along with its allies, would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections and provide a stable and development-oriented government to Punjab. Dhillon also called upon party workers to connect with the masses and highlight the central government's welfare schemes that have benefited the state.
The appointment of Dhillon, a seasoned politician, is seen as a move by the BJP to strengthen its presence in Punjab, where it has been out of power for nearly a decade. The party aims to capitalize on anti-incumbency against the AAP and consolidate its support base among various communities.
