BJP national president Nitin Nabin has announced a new organisational team for Uttar Pradesh, marking the first major state-level reorganisation under his leadership. The reshuffle, aimed at ensuring community and regional balance, comes ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections in the state.
Key appointments in new UP BJP team
The new team includes 19 vice-presidents, eight general secretaries, and 19 secretaries. Among the prominent appointments are Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s son Neeraj Singh as a vice-president, Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s close aide Ankur Sharma as a secretary, and television journalist Yatendra Singh as a secretary.
All six regional chiefs replaced
The party has also replaced the chiefs of all six regions in Uttar Pradesh, a significant overhaul indicating a strategy to refresh leadership at the grassroots level. Sources said the announcement is part of a broader BJP organisational revamp that will also see changes in the party’s national structure.
Meetings with senior leaders signal wider changes
On Wednesday, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje met Nabin. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is scheduled to meet him on Thursday, after Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met the BJP president. These meetings are seen as part of consultations for the national-level organisational changes.
