Opposition Slams Fuel Price Hike, Rahul Warns of More Shocks

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led the opposition in slamming the recent fuel price hike, stating that the common people are paying for the mistakes of the Modi government. He warned that more such shocks are likely in the coming future. The Congress party also accused the Modi government of pushing the country's jewellery sector toward a lockdown through the Prime Minister's appeal to avoid gold purchases and the sharp increase in import duty on gold and silver.

Rahul Gandhi's Remarks

Rahul Gandhi said, "The Rs 3 shock has already arrived, the rest of the recovery will be done in instalments." He criticized the government's economic policies, emphasizing that the burden of rising fuel prices will fall on the common man.

CPM Politburo's Condemnation

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) politburo condemned the fuel price hike, stating that it would impose a greater burden on people already reeling under inflation, unemployment, and stagnant wages. They urged the government to reconsider its decision.
