Amid growing speculation about a possible rebellion by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Rajenimbalkar, a senior party leader expressed hope that the rumours are unfounded. On Thursday, six out of nine Lok Sabha members from the party skipped a crucial parliamentary party meeting held in New Delhi, raising eyebrows within political circles.
Party Leader's Reaction
The Sena (UBT) leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, 'Wish this is nothing but a rumour.' The comment came in response to widespread buzz that Rajenimbalkar might be considering a switch to another party. The leader emphasised that the party remains united and that such speculation is baseless.
Absentee MPs Raise Questions
The absence of six MPs from the parliamentary party meeting has fueled concerns about internal dissent. The meeting, convened to discuss party strategy and upcoming legislative business, saw only three of the nine MPs attending. Party insiders, however, downplayed the absences, citing prior engagements and logistical issues.
Political analysts note that the Shiv Sena (UBT), led by former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has been facing challenges in maintaining cohesion after the split in the original Shiv Sena. The party has lost several legislators to the rival faction led by Eknath Shinde, and any further defections could weaken its position in Parliament.
Rajenimbalkar, a two-time MP from Maharashtra, has not commented on the speculation. The party leadership is expected to hold discussions with the absent MPs to clarify their stance and ensure unity ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament.
