Among the eight individuals arrested in connection with the case is the former driver of Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Trust. The SIT has gathered evidence showing that the accused tampered with the surveillance system before committing the theft.

According to SIT officials, the accused used cloth and other materials to cover the lenses of CCTV cameras installed at key locations within the temple premises. They also allegedly cut power supply to some cameras temporarily. The investigation revealed that the accused had prior knowledge of the camera placements.

The theft has led to sharp exchanges between political parties. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav criticized the state government, saying, "The security of the Ram Temple should be foolproof. In response, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured that strict action would be taken against the culprits.

Recovery of Stolen Donations

The SIT has recovered a significant portion of the stolen donations, amounting to several lakh rupees. The accused had allegedly been siphoning off funds collected from devotees over a period of months. The investigation is ongoing to identify any other individuals involved.
